Carry On Luggage Packing Tips For Long Flights

Sure going on a vacation is exciting, but the long air travel to get there isn’t. That’s why it’s important to pack your carry on luggage properly, as it will say a lot about your comfort throughout the flight. Read on to get a few tips on how to pack your carry ons to your advantage.

Not all tote handbags or backpacks are the same. It’s important to pick something that’s large enough to contain all your carry on items. But it’s also important that it’s small enough to be comfortably carried around. If possible, go for something out of soft materials. This way, it can also double as a pillow.

Instead of stashing in the bag several different items together, separate them by using resealable plastic bags. For example, all your small toiletries in one plastic bag make it easier to bring them to the plane toilet for freshening up. Anything that may spill or rub off odors onto other items, like snacks, may be stored in resealable plastic bags.

For your jewelry set, it’s advisable to store them in travel jewelry cases. The inside is lined to protect your precious items. It’s also compartmentalized to keep them from getting entangled with each other. All your medications should also be placed together, but in their individual containers, in a single pouch for easy access.

Many travelers prefer to bring magazines instead of books to accompany them during long flights. It’s because magazines are lighter and cheaper, so you can simply dispose of them after reading. You can pick a copy or two on your way to the airport, or at the airport’s newsstand itself.

Other than reading to keep yourself busy, pick magazines that contain information you might actually benefit from. For instance, you might have had sleepless nights before the flight out of excitement, thus you ended up with acne breakouts. A beauty magazine with an article on how to get rid of acne sure might come in handy.

If you’re trying to maintain your weight or you’re on a certain diet, it pays to pack your own snacks. Sometimes food items served on an airplane may not necessarily complement your waistline or taste buds. Having something nutritious and light to reach for is a great way to keep hunger pangs at bay.

When exposed to the cold and dry cabin air, your skin might dry out and get itchy. For this, you can apply skin moisturizers to exposed skin as needed. For your lips, a stick or small tub of lip balm in your pocket can easily come to the rescue. Don’t forget to stash in your luggage a sweatshirt, tiny blanket or extra pair of socks to beat out the cold.

Packing Your Carry On Luggage For Surviving Long Flights

Packing your carry on luggage is important, as its contents will be your companion throughout the air travel. Of course going on a vacation is really fun. But not the long flights you have to take. Feel free to use the following tips so you can be assured of comfort until you get to your destination.

Whether you’re going for tote handbags or backpacks, go for one with just the right size. It should be big enough to carry necessities. But not too big to exceed airline regulations. Of course it should also be light enough for comfortable carrying. Go for something fabricated from soft materials, so it can also act as a pillow.

Resealable plastic bags come in handy for separating items that will go into your luggage. Such plastic bags will keep items from getting jumbled, especially small ones. For example, freshening up is hassle-free if you got all your toiletries in a single resealable plastic bag. Any item that may leak or smell can be safely stored in such resealable containers.

There are jewelry cases designed for those who take their jewelry set with them during travel. Such has a protective lining which keeps your items from getting scratched or dented. The compartments are great for keeping them apart, so they don’t get entangled with each other. Your medications too should be stored in a single pouch, though in their respective containers.

Magazines are lighter and cheaper. You can easily throw them away afterwards, so you don’t have to worry about packing them on your way back home. It’s the reason why many travelers prefer them over books. Plus you can pick up copies easily, on your way to the airport or at newsstands inside the airport.

Aside from keeping you busy during long flights, reading magazines is also a great way to pick up useful information. For example, it’s not unlikely for you to have sleepless nights before your vacation as you’re excited. Because of that, acne breakouts may have taken place. A magazine with a piece on how to get rid of acne sure comes in handy.

Packing your own snack means that you like what you got, and you got something to reach for should you get hungry. This is also important if you’re a weight watcher or following a particular diet. It’s not all the time that airline food is friendly on your palette and waistline.

The airplane cabin can get really cold at times, thus your skin is more susceptible to drying out. Liberally apply moisturizing lotion to exposed areas of the body to prevent dryness, scaling and itchiness. Also, bring a tub or stick of lip balm for your lips, and apply as needed. Take with you a small blanket, extra shirt or a pair of socks to help fight off cold cabin temperatures.

All the airlines have been silly this year, here are some examples!

Here is a list of the most annoying and idiotic airlines over the past 8 months, and some of the things they have done to annoy us:

Ryanair have proved once again how annoying they can be, by raising there prices to ridiculous amounts. They used to be a very cheap airline, and in some respects they still are. However they have just announced to the world that they will be increasing charges on checking in Luggage. Since when did luggage start to charge extra for being checked in? Now everyone knows that there are wieght restrictions and we all do our best to stick to them, so why now does this cost more? If my suitcase says to me that it wants to fly 1st class then that may be a reason for me to fork out some more cash. Can you believe, that they also said this would help to reduce costs overall, I will believe it when i see it.

Virgin is by far becoming one of the most powerful airlines in the world. We all know it’s going to happen, the time of Microsoft is over, and soon Virgin will take over the world. However, although they may do, they need to sort out some of these stupid ideas they come up with. One example is banning people from getting on their planes in South Africa if they have swine flu. Well seeing as Swine Flu has already reached every far corner of the world, will this actually help. What will preventing those that have swine Flu from entering countries where there is already Swine Flu actually have any affect upon? I don’t want to annoy Virgin too much though, soon they will be in control of the world.

Easy Jet have done a pretty good job of making themselves look silly this year. Easy Jet claim that this is a hoax, but they would wouldn’t they, that told one of the customers she was too “fat” to fly. Doesn’t this seem just a little too harsh. But hey at least they offered her the chance to buy two tickets to accommodate her. I might also add that she only weighed 15 stone. Hmmmm maybe a little extreme, don’t you think?

Well if you’re thinking about Caribbean holidays try Maldives holidays instead and fly with someone you know you can trust, if you can find that airline.  Let’s see who can screw up the Christmas holidays the most this year?

Never Go Without Holiday Insurance

We all look forward to our annual vacations with eager anticipation. As our vacation time draws closer we’ll start to count the days until we pack our holiday clothes and head off for a week or two in the sun.

There are unfortunately many people who take their families away on holiday without thinking about the need for holiday insurance. This is particularly true for independent travellers who make their own travel arrangements without using a travel agent. Travel agencies will generally remind people of the need for holiday insurance but even when they do many people take out the cheapest policy possible which can often be inadequate for many circumstances.

Nobody expects that they will need medical assistance or be the victim of crime and this is what stops many from taking out adequate insurance cover. Nobody expects to enounter the nightmare of needing serious medical attention or being the victim of crime while on holiday. Its an unfortunate fact of life that emergencies do arise and when they occur abroad they can be incredibly expensive. Many don’t reallise that, if the worst was to happen, then the cost of being flown home in an air ambulance could run into thousands of pounds. From the USA the cost of repatriation by air ambulance is estimated to be between £35K and £45K and from the Canary Islands the cost could be between £12K and £16K.

Nobody plans to be brought home by air ambulance but imagine if the worst did happen and you had to pay these costs yourself?

Although I’ve never had cause to claim for medical expenses from my own holiday insurance I have, on two occasions, had to claim for items that were stolen or lost. One time, while travelling in India, my rather expensive camera was somehow liberated from my baggage while on a train from Agra to Varanasi. And on another occasion my suitcase was completely lost by the airline when I flew to Italy.

These losses should reinforce my message that holiday insurance is really an essential. It’s bad enough to have valuable items stolen or lost but this situation is made a lot worse by having inadequate insurance cover.

When choosing a good holiday insurance policy it is really worthwhile making certain that you are familiar with the limitations of the policy. Lots of people are blissfully unaware of these exclusions, for example most policies will not cover drink or drug related incidents?

It is worth remembering that cheaper policies will tend to offer less cover than the more expensive ones. Always be certain that the policy provides adequate cover before being tempted by the cheapest insurance policy available.

There may be ways to save some money, perhaps by considering an annual, multi-trip policy or by using a group insurance policy. If there is one travel expense that should be absolutely essential it is the need for adequate holiday insurance cover.

Ensure Adequate Holiday Insurance

We all look forward to our annual vacations with eager anticipation. As our vacation time draws closer we’ll start to count the days until we pack our holiday clothes and head off for a week or two in the sun.

Lots of people pack their bags and head for the sun without giving any thought to the need for insurance. This is particularly true for independent travelers who don’t arrange their holidays through a travel agent. Travel agencies will generally remind people of the need for holiday insurance but even when they do many people take out the cheapest policy possible which can often be inadequate for many circumstances.

Many people don’t take out adequate insurance cover because they don’t expect they will need. Nobody expects to have an accident, to need medical attention or that they will be the victim of crime. Its an unfortunate fact of life that emergencies do arise and when they occur abroad they can be incredibly expensive. Many don’t reallise that, if the worst was to happen, then the cost of being flown home in an air ambulance could run into thousands of pounds. For example the cost of returning home from the United States in an air ambulance would be between £35K and £45K and from the Canary Islands the cost could be between £12K and £16K.

Nobody plans for disaster or being flown home in an air ambulance but imagine that the worst did happen and you had to pay these costs out of your own pocket?

Although I’ve never had cause to claim for medical expenses from my own holiday insurance I have, on two occasions, had to claim for items that were stolen or lost. One time, while travelling in India, my rather expensive camera was somehow liberated from my baggage while on a train from Agra to Varanasi. On another occasion my suitcase was lost on a flight to Italy.

These incidents highlight another key reason to make certain that you have adequate holiday insurance cover. Having your personal possessions stolen while on holiday is bad enough but it can be a lot worse if you don’t have adequate insurance cover.

When selecting an insurance policy you are advised to be certain that you read the exclusions from the policy. For example, many people are completely unaware that most insurance policies don’t cover drink or drug related incidents?

It is worth remembering that cheaper policies are cheaper for a reason, usually because they offer less cover than those which are more expensive. Always be certain that the policy provides adequate cover before being tempted by the cheapest insurance policy available.

You can often save money by looking at annual multi-trip insurance or by looking at group insurance policies for your whole family. If there is one travel expense that should be absolutely essential it is the need for adequate holiday insurance cover.
